Mick Harris: Founder member of Move It 1998 to 2021.
After more than 65 years in the music industry, my dad, Mick Harris, decided to retire from the band in 2019. Throughout his incredible and exciting career, Dad shared the stage with many well-known names and even achieved first place in the 1970s on Opportunity Knocks with the much-loved and successful local band State Affair.
For over 21 years, Mick was a cherished member of Move It, where he made lifelong friends and played a huge part in the band’s continued success. His passion for music, his sense of humour, and his larger-than-life personality left a lasting mark on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Sadly, in 2022, after courageously battling dementia for several years, Dad passed away following a short related illness. He is missed deeply by his family, friends, and everyone who had the joy of sharing the stage—or the dance floor—with him.
We are forever grateful for the memories, the laughter, and the music he gave us. His love for performing and for people will continue to inspire us every day.
Thank you, Dad — you truly were a legend. We love you and miss you always.
